Breath is one of the five essential elements filling the cosmos like dimension of a human life on this planet. The other four elements are water, fire, earth and ether. Breath is formless, colorless, odorless and yet full of power. A good yoga practice revolves around the presence of breath in every asana. Breath is nature’s most essential tool to carve good health and balanced thoughts in the otherwise cluttered mind.
Breath is present in every cell of a human body. The very pulse of life is a simple breath. How mindful are we
when we inhale and exhale? The practice of yoga inculcates the art of effective breathing into every
possible layer present in our body. When one learns this art of breathing, life seemingly turns towards a
meaningful path where the activity in the mind compartmentalizes into distinct functionality.
Breath enhances the quality of life. Ancient texts on yoga explain the benefits of mindful breathing techniques called pranayams. In today’s fast paced lifestyle, the practice of pranayams can boost the respiratory, circulatory and digestive systems of an individual at the physical level which in turn brings about a better mental health as the mind and body are tundamentally connected.
In yoga texts, breath is called prana or life energy. We as individuals have the freedom to work upon towards
building a better breath in our bodies. The more prana we save within our body, a better living system we create by the process of continuous renewal of the living cells. In order to understand this vital element, simply
open up and allow yourself to breath consciously. The rest will unfold in the very next moment which can be as
long as eternity or as small as a piece of time itself. Let life happen in you. Let there be light in you.
